It is 1800AD and in a fantasy world in an age of sail and magic. The Elythryaean Empire is comprised of a vast array islands and territories, all separated by the seas and oceans. The Elythryaean Empire is the foremost naval power in the world, the EIN maintaining the links between its Capital, Arania, and its territories. Its territories are dotted across the world, either vast coastal cities or entire islands, all heavily fortified and defended. While Elythrya is renowned for its impressive navy, its fortifications and marines are second to none. A unique nation, it has an Imperial House called Evergarden. Although the Imperial House has absolute authority, it is constantly in check by the nobles whom instead of controlling fiefs of land like conventional nations, they are instead assigned fiefs of sea, from which they are expected to administer from a "estate island". The nobles instead of being expected to provide soldiers are expected to providing ships and marines. Furthermore, the nobles are expected to act as merchants and their fiefs of sea are expected to act as trading companies for the Empire. While there are strict guidlines against monopolies in the Empire's internal markets, there is relative flexibility with external markets, often leading to some noble houses to band together in their specific fiefs to create a sort of trading company against external merchants. While the Empire is economically very powerful, its lifeblood depends on their navy and its ability to keep its seas open. Due to the uniqueness of the nation, the Imperial House is expected to have the heirs of the nation to be competent admirals rather than generals. The Imperial House of Evergarden controls the entire island-city of Arania. It is the largest island and city in the Empire which also houses the Imperial Shipyard, Imperial Palace and is heart of the Empire. With the world becoming unstable with more frequent upheavals and wars in the continents, how will the Empire hold?
