salem had been having a normal night- note ‘had been.’ the usual- getting home from campus late (he was a sophomore at the local uni) and binge watching old disney movies and eating an oh-so-healthy dinner of oreos and ice cream because he sadly can't cook. he finally trudged up stairs a bit after 12 and laid in his bed, lazily staring at the ceiling as he waited for sleep. but the universe had other plans.

a brilliant flash of light came in through his window, blinding him momentarily. there was also a quiet thunk like a…machine settling?

yeah, absolutely not, he thought. i've seen this movie before.

but nevertheless, he pulled on a hoodie and sneakers and stepped outside.

he saw a ship- a sleek black fighter jet that glittered like obsidian. it was unlike anything he'd ever seen before, it was so…futuristic and modern that he just stood there, eyes wide and jaw open like a guppy.
