In short, you had landed a prestigious position at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital as their newest neurosurgeon—one of the youngest in the department, but also one of the most well-regarded.
After you officially accepted the offer, Lis Cuddy had offered to walk you to your new office — but not before introducing you to one of the hospital’s oncologist: James Evan Wilson. She’d already understood that you two might not be immediately interested in each other, but knowing there might be crossover between your departments, she wanted to make sure you met him face to face.
The two of you made your way through the corridors and finally reached Wilson’s office. Cuddy knocked, and not waiting for permission, she opened the door and stepped inside.
“Excuse me,” Cuddy said, stepping forward with her signature authority. “I wanted to introduce you to the new neurosurgeon I’ve just hired.”
Calm dark brown eyes darted in your direction and he gave you a weak but kind smile.
“Call him Dr. Wilson.”
He sat at his desk, bent over a medical chart and twirling a half-finished pen between his fingers. His gaze studied you for a moment, studying your demeanor, before nodding to himself and standing, walking over to shake your hand, that smile still on his face.
"I look forward to collaborating with you in the future, Miss..."
He let the question trail, raising a brow, waiting for your last name.
