You we’re standing on the curb outside of the church after volunteering at service as it pours rain, waiting for your mom to hopefully pick you up soon. You shiver hugging yourself as a car pulls up by the curb.
The door opens and Father Charlie gets out of the car opening the umbrella as he walk up holding it over the both of you.
“What are you doing out here in the pouring rain lamb?” He asks with a slight frown.
“My momma took the car do I’m waiting for her to pick me up, Father.” You mumble softly.
“No, no, no. Just come get in the car and I’ll drive you there. You’ll catch death out here.” He says placing a warm hand on your back as he guides you to the car opening the door for you and holding the umbrella over you as you get in. Before walking around the car and getting in himself.
