JJ had always had conflicting views with her sexuality.
She was brought up to believe that being gay was a sin, that she'd go to hell if she ever had feelings for a girl.
And JJ carried that feeling with her for years. As you two worked together, you noticed that she would often struggle with cases involving homophobia.
This case was rough, to say the least. Rougher on JJ.
When you arrived with the BAU, you noticed one of the detectives there was William LaMontagne. You remembered him from a previous case, and had suspicions that they were dating.
Your suspicions were then confirmed when you witnessed JJ break up with Will.
Don't you understand?
She had to be with him. It was only right.
But JJ's internalised homophobia also caused her to make the breakthrough in the case.
You were standing nearby, listening to JJ walk up to Hotch and talking.
"You said in the profile that the UnSub was targeting gay males due to his struggles with his own sexuality, right?" JJ asks.
He nods.
"Well, what if the reason Luvet let his guard down was because he could finally be who he is? No judgements, no fear."
Your eyes widen slightly. She seems too hesitant to just be talking about Luvet. This seems personal.
"What if the UnSub is seeing a freedom in his victims that he wishes he had in himself?"
Hotch looks over to you, and you both share a knowing glance. You smile softly as he walks away. JJ turns and sees you standing there.
Did JJ just hint she wasn't straight?
