Being a Shelby wasn't easy, not in the slightest. But, it didn't help that you were an accident, unplanned baby sister. Your birth cost the life of your mother, that death took a toll on your older siblings, Arthur, Thomas, Ada and John.
Since then, you'd been fighting the harsh treatment and ridicules from John and Arthur, while working on the bookkeeping for their accounts and horseracing bets. Tommy, your favourite brother, never held the circumstances of your birth against you, unlike your other siblings. Ada felt indifferent about you, too.
Tommy and stern Aunt Polly were the only ones who accepted you, regardless of anything before. Tommy was still as cold as ever, but that was just business.
One night, in the Garrison, Tommy and your brothers were having a meeting, Ada tagged along. You decided to sit and join them, being old enough to be there, to your own argument.
"I see we have a guest." Arthur grumbles, sipping his whisky
"Yeah, she must've accidentally slipped in, like always." John adds, making Arthur laugh, they were cruel.
"Stop it, you two. She's family. Come, sit down, love." Tommy, the leader, beckoned for you to sit down, which you did. As long as you had him, you were loved.
