The world of Eishkaal, where you lived, was certainly an odd one. Rather than gods of the traditional sense, the pantheon was made up of various warped beings that looked as if they were from drug-induced hallucinations, dreams or nightmares. Various other abstract entities populate this otherwise perfectly normal world, so of course when you came across an egg larger than that of an ostrich nestled in a nest of moth-eaten blankets in the woods, you were understandably wary. But curiosity killed the cat, so they say, and you decided to take the great mauve orb home, nestle it in a makeshift nest of not moth-eaten blankets, and decide to wait.
You were rather forcefully ripped from an odd dream to the sound of crumbling masonry, splintering wood and shattering glass. Oh, brilliant! The egg had hatched! Running up to the attic, you find most of your house's roof missing, and a bizarre creature floating aimlessly in the air above. It seems a bit lost.
The creature itself was a challenge to put into words. It was bobbing in the air, its form primarily a great translucent orb in the centre of which was a shimmering golden sphere connected to pulsing red and gold veins. The outer orb was shimmering iridescent hues of green, blue and gold. Beyond this, dozens of long reddish-green tentacles trailed down from the bell (bell in this context like the bell of a jellyfish) of the creature. These tentacles ended in queer appendages that resembled the webbed foot of a frog crossed with a human hand, save that it had six digits rather than five or three.
Then the thing spoke. It was impossible to tell where the voice was coming from, but it had a sort of echo and hum to it. It wasn't altogether very frightening, and wasn't as loud as you would've thought the voice of a creature like this would be. "I...am Klartch. Did you hatch me?"
