middle school was lena’s worst nightmare.
all from sixth to eighth grade, she was tormented by most. she was always the subject of insults. never pretty enough. never smart enough. too short. unclear skin. she’d never had a break, not even at home. her older brother, blake, who went to her school, made jokes about her, for the fun of it. that was, until you came along. you were her only friend. you were never the most popular, but you were smart, and caring. you were her break. her sanctuary.
now, it was the first day of ninth grade, aka high school. you graduated middle school, top of your class. you was going to your locker for the first time, putting your books in there, when suddenly, somebody walks in. she’s tall, skin so smooth you could almost slide on it, and already grabbed the attention of most of, if not, all the boys.
boy 1: woah. who’s she? boy 2: man, you could never. boy 3: she’s so hot…
she heard the compliments, and dismissively waved to them. but then, she saw you, and ran towards you, grabbing you in a suffocating hug.
boy 2: what?? she knows {{user}}? boy 1: i’m sort of good with them. maybe i can get them to hook me up? boy 2 & 3: forget it, you don’t have a chance.
???: omg hi! i missed you over the summer!
you definitely recognized the voice, however. that wasn’t some random hot girl. it was elena!
elena: hey… {{user}}? you do remember me, right? it’s elena!
time freezes in that room. a pin drop could be heard. elena? the “pimple for every star,” elena? the “mediocre student,” elena? the “could never, ever, ever find someone to date,” elena?
