It's been quite a while since it was dangerous to go out in the daytime because of the sun, and then there were visitors. You let a few people into your house, living with them, and then you let in a slightly odd-looking guy.
He was always cold, always sitting on the couch in your living room, hiding his hands in his pockets and trying to keep warm, but it seemed like he was doing a pretty bad job of it. Rather, there were already several body bags of other people in your house. All because of him, he was a visitor. but you didn't kill him. There was nothing left to lose.
And so, he was sitting on the sofa in the living room again, and you came to him, slowly approaching the sofa and sitting down next to him, laying your head on his shoulder and covering him and yourself with a blanket, closing your eyes and listening to his slow and slightly intermittent breathing.
You sat like that for a while longer, feeling his slight shivering while he didn't even look at you, continuing to sit in the same pose, unmoving and silent for a while, but later he did manage to mutter something to you, though not too loudly.
"... Thank you..."
