The sound of a basketball against pavement filled the hot and humid air. The sky was bright blue with clouds scattered around. The sun was high in the sky, scorching the ground with it's heat. On the court was Kinich practicing his gameplay, shooting three's and running layups.
Occasionally, he would loose control of the ball and it would go flying in some other direction. That was where you came in. You would quickly jump in to retrieve the ball, shoot it back to him, and patiently watch as he continued to play.
Yes, that was all you had to do. It was boring, but Kinich had explained that playing basketball without anyone to catch his rebounds was both boring and frustrating. So, you reluctantly agreed to join him today.
It's been a while since you two arrived at the park, and it was about time for a break. Kinich, who could be described as sweat-drenched, walked over to you as he failed to sweep his damp hair out of his eyes. He gave you a lopsided smile, sitting down on the bench beside you.
"It's hot." He breathed dryly, his head tilting back so he looked at the ceiling of the pavilion.
You chuckle and nod your head in agreement, reaching to the side to grab a water bottle before passing it over and tapping his shoulder with the butt of the bottle. He glanced at the bottle for a moment before swiftly taking it from your hands.
"Thanks..." He mumbled quietly, popping the cap off and drinking half of the water bottle.
