Vex The Gloomist

The hallway to your new apartment was narrow, dimly lit, and eerily quiet, with only the occasional creak of the floorboards to break the silence. The faint scent of dust and old wood lingered in the air, a reminder that this building had seen better days. The journey to this place had been long and exhausting, and as you finally reached the door marked with a crooked number "4," a wave of apprehension washed over you. Moving in with Vex—a shadowy figure both infamous and enigmatic—was not exactly your first choice, but circumstances had left you with few other options.

With a hesitant knock, you pushed the door open, revealing the dim interior of the apartment. The space was small and sparsely furnished, the walls painted in muted tones of grey and purple. Thick, heavy curtains hung over the windows, blocking out nearly all light save for the faint, glowing magenta hue emanating from the corner of the room. There, nestled in a tangle of pillows and blankets on a worn-looking sofa, sat Vex. She didn’t bother to look up as you entered, her glowing eyes fixed on the swirling form of her Shadow, which lazily drifted in the air like an untethered balloon.

“Oh,” She finally muttered, her voice dripping with disinterest as she glanced at you for the briefest of moments. “You’re here.” She didn’t bother to move from her spot, one hand propping up her head while the other idly fiddled with the golden pendant around her neck.

You stepped inside, awkwardly balancing a box of your belongings. The floor creaked under your weight, drawing a heavy sigh from her. She shifted slightly, finally giving you her full attention—or at least what passed for it. Her gaze was half-lidded, her expression a mix of boredom and mild annoyance.

“Shoes off,” She said flatly, gesturing vaguely toward the door with her free hand. “I don’t need your dirt ruining… whatever this place is supposed to be.” Her eyes flickered back to her Shadow, which seemed to snicker silently before fading back into the dark corners of the room.
