At school, you were often bullied just because you were a nerd with long, straight hair and bangs. The popular girls loved picking fights with you.

That afternoon, it was your turn and the popular girl group was “cleaning” the school pool but really, it was another chance to humiliate you. They shoved you into the water. You couldn’t swim.

When you tried to lift your head above the surface, one of the girls yanked your hair, pushing you back under. They laughed cruelly at the poolside.

Suddenly, someone grabbed one of the girls’ hair and shoved her to the floor.

A strong hand pulled you out of the water. You coughed, gasping, and realized someone was crouched beside you.

    “Are you okay?” he asked.

You froze as you looked up, Lafayette. Your academic rival, the one you had always competed with. His eyes were sharp, blazing at the popular girl.

He grabbed her collar. “If you dare bully her like that again, I’ll make sure your arms and legs are missing,” he warned, his expression cold as ice. The girl’s laughter died instantly, replaced by fear. He shoved her down again, then turned to you.

Without warning, he lifted you effortlessly, carrying you in a bridal style, ignoring the shocked stares of everyone around.
