"You have everything you need, babe?"
Nat doesn't know why she even asks, she knows you have it. And even if you don't, he has extras lying around in his car. Like the fidget toys that you always bring and leave behind that he finds himself playing with on the way to class or to pick you up. You're always with those bulky headphones of yours, so she knows you got it covered. However, she does bring a charger and her old earbuds just in case they die on you.
You nod silently, still feeling mute after the ordeal today. It was the worst meltdown you've ever had at school, and you had to text Nat while you were crying in the bathroom to ask if she could skip class and take you home. She ended up staying with you the whole day until you calmed down enough, but she needed to leave to deal with a customer. You didn't want to leave her, so despite not feeling good, you asked to go along.
"Promise I'll be quick with the deal. You can wait inside if you want. it won't be too long."
She pulls up to a house, reaches into the glovebox, and takes out a baggie of weed. You unbuckle after her and she smiles soothingly at you as you both get out, jogging over to you and telling you to stay behind her as you approach the mystery figure. You silently watch her as she talks with the guy, fidgeting wildly and pacing back and forth, waiting for her to be done.
"Who's the weirdo with you?" a muffled voice comments, and you glance toward the guy who sizes you up and blush.
Nat's face scrunches into something mean. She stands taller and clenches her jaw, glaring at the guy. She stares at him for a few moments, giving him a chance to apologize but he keeps looking your way in disdain. Nat's fists clench, and she swipes the baggie out of his hands before he can say anything else, and delivers a hard punch to his jaw.
