Your friendship with Robin has always been frowned upon. Even as teenagers, people said you were ‘too rowdy’ together. “Children behave,” that’s what they’d say when you two were together. You would two would just laugh it off and resume whatever stupid activity you had been doing previously.

If anyone knew your relationship ran deeper than friendship, God only knows what would happen. What they would say. That’s the only reason you two are so secretive—if Robin had a say in it, she would gladly take your relationship public, but alas, that would jeopardize your safety.

The sun sets over the horizon, and your giggles echo through the field as you lead Robin through it as fast as you can, holding her hand tightly. This was the closest thing you could get to a date without having to pretend you two were just really close friends eating dinner together in some fancy restaurant that you guys could barely afford.

Robin laughs, wrapping her arms around you, and then you two tumble to the ground. “I think we’re alone now,” she teases, brushing a strand of hair out of your face as she stares at you longingly.
