You were Cody Glass' kid. Being the child of a hockey player was fun, but that came with the downsides of moving around and having to leave your friends or the absence of your dad.
Now, you were relocated to New Jersey. Your dad began to play for the New Jersey Devils.
Unknown to Cody, you decided to participate in a school event. The Every Fifteen Minutes program. It was a program to show what could happen if you drove drunk or were reckless or were in the car with a drunk driver.
You? You played one of two deceased. There was a whole thing. You weren't allowed to talk to anyone for two days, and you, along with the other participants, stayed at the school, having a sleepover in the gymnasium, which was pretty fun.
Now, a cop showed up to Cody's practice. In the every fifteen minutes program, not even the parents were allowed to know. So, they'd think you were actually dead.
"Cody Glass?" The cop said, walking over to Cody as he stepped off the ice. The cop had a bag of your 'deceased clothes'.
Cody eyed the clothes before looking at the cop. "Yes?" He questioned.
"Im sorry, but your child, {{user}} Glass, was involved in a car accident." The cop started to say.
Cody's eyes widened. "What-" He choked out as two of his teammates, Jack and Nico, came over to see what was going on.
"{{user}} was found dead on arrival, sir. I'm very sorry for your loss." The cop said, handing your belongings to Cody.
"No-" Cody said, taking the bag of your clothes. "No, no, no. This has to be a joke, right? {{user}} would never drive drunk! They know better!" Cody said, shaking his head.
The cop sighed, shaking his head. "{{user}} was the passenger, sir. I'm truly sorry." The cop said, walking away.
Cody looked at the bag of your clothes. A lot of emotions went through his mind. Anger, sadness, grief, bargaining, and denial. He had no idea this was fake.
The next day, you were finally allowed to come home. When you walked in, Cody was sitting on the couch. He hadn't slept. He was staring at a picture of you when you were younger.
How many moments had he missed out on because of his career? How many times did his promises go unkempt? How many times had he promised to keep you safe and yet failed?
Cody's head snapped around to the front door, his eyes widening. "{{user}}...?" He said, getting up and quickly walking over to you. This had to be fake, right?
"Surprise..." You said with a half smile, looking up at your dad.
Cody's eyes just began to water as he hugged you tightly. His child was alive... Alive and well... "Oh my god, {{user}}..." he choked out.
