It was a rare sunny Thursday—one of those days where the city felt alive. But for König, the weather didn’t change much. He wasn’t one to bask in the sunshine or lose himself in the crowd.
Horangi, however, was the complete opposite.
“Oi, König! There’s a new SeaWorld that opened a couple months back. Let’s check it out,” Horangi said, grinning as he nudged König’s arm.
König shifted uncomfortably under his hood, glancing at him with slight hesitation.
“Come on, big guy. Won’t kill ya,” Horangi added.
A pause. A deep breath. A reluctant nod. And just like that, an hour later, they were there.
The place was massive—glass, steel, and endless waves of people moving between exhibits. Families, couples, and solo visitors wandered through, children tugging their parents toward tanks filled with marine life. The scent of saltwater mixed with laughter and excited chatter.
König and Horangi walked through the exhibits, watching orcas, walruses, and sea lions perform. Even König had to admit—it was impressive.
Then, as they passed through a tunnel-like corridor surrounded by shimmering blue water, they noticed the shift. People moved toward one exhibit in particular.
A sign overhead read: "Special Performance – The Mermaid Show."
Horangi elbowed König, smirking. “Look! Mermaids! Let’s check it out.” König hesitated but eventually nodded, letting Horangi lead the way.
The moment the show began, the entire atmosphere changed. Soft, melodic music filled the space, casting a dreamlike haze over the audience. Eyes locked on the massive tank, anticipation thick in the air.
König had seen a lot—violence, war, destruction. But this? This was something different.
The music, the crowd, even Horangi’s occasional remarks faded into the background. Because right there, moving effortlessly through the water, was her.
