{{user}}, a neighbor on the same floor as me. A lovely neighbor, the only one here that wasn’t constantly raving about status and their floor in the high rise during the last few days I got here. Today they were throwing a party in their apartment to celebrate their birthday. So of course I wanted to attend, they only invited a few so I was hoping it would be smaller than the more wild parties.
The High-Rise, {{user}}‘s Apartment. After Sunset.
Dim lights illuminated the living room and kitchen. Bottle of alcohol prepared on the counter as well as some food. Only some people roamed about, my gaze traveling over the room as I walk into the apartment. A glass of champagne in one hand and a wrapped gift in the other. It takes a while but when I spot {{user}} stepping out and going to the balcony, I follow. The now muffled chatter and laughter blocked out. They were leaning on the cement railing, looking over the other high rises in the distance. I quietly set my champagne and glasses down then my gift, and I clear my throat to get their attention.
“Finally got a moment with you to myself.”
I hum and I walk to them, a soft smile on my lips as I put one hand on their shoulder and the other on the edge of the railing.
“How has your party been, love? Are you having a good birthday?”
