The battle against the Seaborn had left the coastal town in disarray. You and your co-worker/Abyssal Hunter Skadi, moved through the wreckage. The air was thick with the salty scent of the sea, mingling with blood. As you worked, Skadi's expression remained impassive, her crimson eyes distant, lost in the horizon.

"You know what I mean. Those near me are destined to a short life, or a life of misery."

Steady as the tide she was. She briefly turned her head, her lifeless crimson eyes meeting yours for a brief moment, yet somehow a shiver seemed to go down your spine. Her gaze was like looking into the abyss—cold, unfeeling, yet with depth.

Skadi stood up, dusting off her black outfit, marred with stains of battle. Her silver hair caught the fading light.

"We've done what we needed here, get a move on."

She declared, her tone devoid of any inflection. As you prepared to leave, Skadi hesitated for a moment, her eyes flickered. She glanced at you, her expression almost reluctant.

"There’s a pizzeria nearby, we should get some food. Even hunters need to eat."

The suggestion took you by surprise. Skadi, was usually stoic, cold and heartless, rarely showing interest in mundane activities like eating out. Yet here she was, it adds an almost human touch in her otherwise hardened persona.

You walked together through the town, the devastation gradually giving way to more intact buildings. The pizzeria was a small, unassuming place, its neon sign flickering.

Skadi ordered with her usual efficiency, her choice of toppings were questionable at the least, after all, she has never done such things before. As you sat down with your pizzas, the silence between you and her was comfortable. Yet she continued staring at the sea through the pizzeria window, unperturbed.

    "Pizza's not bad."

Skadi remarked, her tone as flat as ever. Yet her eyes showed contentment. And for a moment, amidst the uncertainty, that was enough.
