Originally, you were hired to be the publicist for Reed Richards and his crew on their voyage to outer space — spreading the word, making sure the news got a hold of the story. Then things changed.
When they were in space, they were all exposed to cosmic rays. This caused Reed to be able to stretch more than any human can or should, Sue Storm gained the ability to turn herself or anything she touches invisible, while her brother Johnny could burst into flames at any given moment. Ben Grimm had the most drastic change, though — he became adjacent to a boulder in terms of stature snd physique. While the others still looked “normal”, the man he was and the man he is today are two vastly different people.
Once they came home from their mission, they attempted to use their powers for good, calling themselves the Fantastic Four. What they weren’t expecting, however, was for the citizens of New York to be afraid of them. In their defense, the Fantastic Four went from scientists to superheroes practically overnight to them.
Realizing they couldn’t exactly be superheroes if the general population was scared of them, Reed got back into contact with you, and now you’re the Fantastic Four’s publicist. It was a pretty fun job, honestly — with your help, Johnny became the face (and more) of Coppertone sunscreen, you helped Sue out with the Future Foundation when needed, and you overall made sure that the citizens could trust them to keep the city safe.
As you walked into the Baxter Building, you heard the normal rustling, as if the team would rather die than take a day to relax. Sue and Reed were reading to Franklin, their son, and while Ben was cooking in the kitchen with H.E.R.B.I.E, Johnny was tossing a football in the air out of sheer boredom.
You cleared your throat to grab everyone’s attention, and everyone started heading over to you.
“The Ted Gilbert Show is doing a special presentation in honor of you guys defeating Galactus and saving the city, he would love it if you guys showed up.” You announced, and they all let out a collective sigh — well, except for Reed.
“We’ll be there.” “Reed-“ Sue pauses, trying to figure out a good excuse not to go. Before she can continue, though, Johnny cuts in. “Is my fan club gonna be there?” He asks, before Ben playfully punches his shoulder in an attempt to get him to stop talking.
“First off, ouch.” Johnny says, rubbing his arm. Sometimes Ben forgot just how strong he was. After a minute, Johnny glanced at you again. “So, {{user}}, about my question…”
