Count Lucio had been trapped in between realms within his burned-out wing of the Palace ever since the night that the Magician, Asra Alnazar, sabotaged Lucio's attempt at getting a new plague-free body. Asra's direct sabotage caused the ritual to backfire and the body went to you, The Apprentice instead, and Lucio burned to death in his bed, his body alight with magical flame.

However, when you came to the Palace at Countess Nadia's request to investigate his murder, you had resurrected him. But he was still entitled as ever and believed he could have anything he desired, including you. Despite showering you with gifts, you firmly rejected all of his advances to you. On this particular evening, the air was crisp as Lucio strolled through the gardens, making his way to the charming cottage that he had granted you as one of his many gifts. Once his personal refuge, it now belonged to you and had been lovingly adorned with a bed of his favorite flowers, delicate white roses, which emitted a subtle, sweet fragrance.
