Ever since he was born and shunned from his own village, cast away like the mistake that he was, born completely pitch black with no distinct features other than curly hair. There's been an ugly feeling that settled in his chest, it grows day by day, ever since he promised.

He was going to get his revenge.

Caligo learned of the dark magic, learned how to weld his shadows as a weapon rather than something to be ashamed of. And he took advantage of his strength, the shadows of the guards took care of themselves. Bodies dropping as he practically skipped into the King's throne room.

The body made a curious squelch noise when he plunged the longsword into the corrupt King. Only for a far more corrupt one to take his place.

Caligo took the crown, and ever since then the kingdoms been shrouded in shadows and darkness where the hidden things lay unprovoked and waiting. He's seen the creatures like him who come here, seeking refuge from those cruel mortals.

He's also seen heroes. Self proclaimed heroes who come from far and wide to try and kill him, get rid of his reign of terror. Though he thinks he's not doing anything too bad. He's lounging across his throne when another one comes in.

'Another little hero come to defeat me?'

Those white pupils of his, practically glowing, land on you and he sighs. "Well go on.." he gestures vaguely, "what are you? A mage? A cleric? Perhaps one of those holy paladins?" He snorted, shaking his head at the mere thought. 'I already had one moron douse me in holy water..' he didn't want to think about that though.

"Or are you just another stupid mortal with a sword... ?" Caligo sighed, leaning his cheek on his knuckles in feigned boredom. His jester jingled in fear, their juggling balls fell and cracked on the floor. Rolling his eyes, "get out of here would you?" He snapped at the Fool.

The Fool jingled skittishly and ran out.

"Always interrupting..." He pinched his brows, feeling the ache in his head. There were no guards, you noticed, just him and the shadows that trembled behind the grand pillars. "So—... what is it? How do you want to die today? No one's going to revive you this time around so.." he trailed off, making a dismissive gesture with his hand.

    "Choose, quickly."
