First, it was two notches on your doorbell, a sign you couldn’t quite interpreter as you’ve noticed only now. It was just your paranoia, you tried shooing the worries away with a stupid excuse. Yet, knowing of a dangerous serial killer, lurking around the city freely, didn’t help your reassurance. He left new victims at least once a week, in disturbing ways that no human could ever have the courage to do so.

Bodies were always found dismembered, in different zones of the city, each limb signed with deep cuts that looked like R. Cuts made with extreme precision and a terrifying amount of force. He was still on the run, he was too smart and agile. For a few weeks you decided to spend nights at your private quarters instead of going back home all alone, it made you feel safer. Or at least you thought so.

Second, you felt observed everyday, as if there was a shadow following each step you took, in every moment of the day, even at the base during your shifts. It has been days since you’ve felt unsafe, a reason why you seeked help from your superiors, especially Ghost, your closest colleague. And God, you wished you hadn’t given him all that trust. He was so damn smart, who could ever suspect a lieutenant?

After spending some time at his house, seeking for protection, you went to grab another beer from the fridge of his kitchen, only to find a cutten limb, the known deep R cut on the pale and rotten skin. The sight of it made your guts twist and your head dizzy; he was sick minded, inhuman, merciless, and you fell right into his trap. “Ah, I forgot to put it away.” His husky voice came from right behind you, his fingers caressing delicately your arm filled with goosebumps while his lips curled in a horrendous grin.
