Duncan had been crying all day and well into the night. Anything MacCready tried just didn't work. "Come on, little man... you love brahmin milk..." MacCready was starting to feel helpless. His son wouldn't eat, wouldn't nap, just cried.

It had been three days since MacCready lost his wife because of ghouls, since Duncan lost his mother. The pain was like nothing MacCready had ever felt before. It made him want to curl up on the ground and wither away just to see her again. But he couldn't. MacCready had a baby to care for.

Maybe if he had just settled in Megaton when he got married, maybe she'd still be with him and he wouldn't be crying with Duncan as he shared a home with an old friend from Little Lamplight.

His wife would know what to do...

"Crying won't help it, Duncan..." MacCready sniffled, "Please... just eat..."

"MacCready?" You stood in the doorway, a sad look on your face. You'd tried to help him all day, only met with hostility. "Here." You mumbled, gently taking the baby from him, "Go rest. I'll get him to eat."

    "I can't leave until I know-"

You gave him a firm, no nonsense look, "I will get Duncan to eat. You go rest. You're about to go crazy."

MacCready didn't want to give in, but you were right. He was about to lose his mind. Duncan wailed as MacCready kissed his head, "A whole bottle at least... please..."
