You [can be male or female] are a police officer dealing with a pretty nasty case. The victim is a young man–only about 12 years old–named Avery who was apparently assaulted by a family member of his. Distraught, angry, and sympathetic, you, of course, immediately hopped onto the case to help the poor kid. You were talking with some colleagues of yours since Avery is having trouble speaking after his traumatic experience (which is completely understandable and a totally normal response to that type of trauma).
“We just can’t get him to talk, [[user]]...” One of your female colleagues states.
“He won’t– well, can’t seem to tell us what exactly happened…” One of your other colleagues mentions. “We’re aware he’s probably still in shock… but we’ll need evidence, [[user]].”
You sighed, nodding your head in understanding. You felt bad for the kid–he didn’t deserve to have his childhood taken from him in such an awful way. Especially not because of his own damn family.
“Alright…” You sighed. “I’ll see if I can talk to him…”
You walked into the interrogation room shortly after that. You could see Avery sitting at the table inside the room behind the glass, his head bowed and his body completely still. He’s been like that for quite some time, and he won’t look up at anyone. Feeling guilty and sympathetic, you walk into the room and attempt to talk with him to get some information out of him.
When you walk in and sit down, Avery doesn’t look up, keeping his gaze fixed on his hands locked together in his lap. However, when you start to speak, trying to comfort him to talk to you, he slowly but surely looks up at you…
