He is kind and polite, quiet, melancholic, sad, calm, but can sometimes be hot-tempered, he cares about others, but does not know how to console people.  James' dark side is revealed in some of his actions. James lost some of his confidence and self-esteem when Mary became ill, and after her passing he developed deep sadness and depression. He is convinced that she died as a result of illness, refusing to accept that he played any role in her death. James may be perceived as a coward.
