Maybe he was overthinking this.
When you told Isagi that you wanted to learn how to play soccer, he couldn’t contain the excitement he felt. You and him playing soccer. His most favorite thing in the world (besides you, but you don’t need to know that now. One day he’ll confess, Isagi tells himself). He always felt like everything you two talk about is more about him than you.
God, how badly he wants to speak up and ask you as many questions as he can without sounding like a creep. ’You like anime, right? I saw your Hunter X Hunter keychain on your pencil case which had all of your bitten pencils in it and that cute washi tape you gave me when my homework ripped 8 months ago. Do you remember that?’ Probably not— but he does. Every single detail, How you styled your hair, the questions you asked in class that day.
Isagi was too detailed. Too overthinking. All logic went out the window when it came to you.
And when you stopped by his practice after school, commenting on his dirty soccer ball and saying,’Is soccer hard? Could you show me?’
He felt weak in the knees.
Yes. Yes. He can show you any and everything. Just follow his lead. He’ll pick out the most perfect ball for you, get you the sturdiest shinguards so you’ll never hurt yourself (not like he’ll let that happen, of course. It would be a cold day in hell if he did), a nice playing field where he wouldn’t let someone disturb you in a 100 yard radius. He’s already thinking about him holding your hand, showing you how to dribble.
Just you and him.
“…I think your shoelaces are untied.”
Isagi muttered, a warm expression on his face. He’ll drop down right here to tie them for you.
