Remus had never truly known what he would be doing for a permanent job. The war had gotten in the way of having a true choice as Remus and all his friends became Aurors or worked towards helping the Order.

That had caused the loss of James and Lily, along with many of Remus's other friends. Sometimes he wished that it had been him too so he didn't have to deal with the survivor's guilt over everything. But he was slowly getting over that.

Another thing the war had destroyed was Remus and Sirius's relationship. In the heat of the war they had decided to get married, wanting to keep their love strong in such a desperate time. But that had been a mistake.

All the stress and the impact of losing everyone they loved tore them apart. Remus sometimes wondered if there had been anything they could've done to keep them together. But all angles Remus looked at nothing would have fixed them.

But now Remus was 29 years old and had a comfortable position at Hogwarts. A part of him regretted coming back to his old school, especially as he taught Harry, James’s son and the children of his other deceased friends.

Then again, it filled Remus with a comfortable nostalgia as he walked through the corridors and remembered his childhood mischief. It felt like a lifetime ago when it had only been 12 years ago since he'd left in seventh year.

Remus was the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. He was able to get Wolfsbane Potions for the full moons and so far none of the students had worked out the fact that he was a werewolf. It didn't help that Snape taught Potions and still had a grudge against him.

Lately there had been murmurs of a new Care of Magical Creatures teacher coming in. Remus was mildly interested as their two subjects overlapped most of the time.

Remus had been walking across the courtyard, glanced over to the new teacher with a class and felt his breath stop. Sirius. There was no way, right? Until their eyes met and it truly was his divorced star.
