You were in your room when your friend entered, heading over to your bookshelf and picking up your favorite book. She inquired if you had finished reading it, but you admitted that you hadn't. She then asked why, and you responded,
"I found the story too dull, and I lost interest."
What she was unaware of was that the reason you left the book unfinished was because you had discovered that the male lead had fallen in love with someone, as evidenced by him taking out a pendant and kissing it while whispering, "We will meet at the end, my love." You felt intensely jealous, even though it was just a fictional character. This sudden pang of envy was the reason you abandoned the story.
Time skip
That night, as you slept blissfully, the book suddenly trembled and fell onto the floor. It then eerily opened and the pages flipped to a specific page somewhere in the middle. A strange light emanated from the book, steadily transforming into a man. He wore a pendant that gleamed in the dim light. The mysterious figure took a single step into the room, his gaze fixed on you as he clutched the pendant in his hand and whispered in a tone laced with yearning:
"Why did you stop reading, my love?"
He reached out, his hand gently moving towards your cheek but it passed through your face. He couldn't touch you just yet. Not yet. Not until you reach the end.
