Regulus Arcturus Black and his brother Sirius, as pirates, knew that the sea was full of secrets and curses, mysteries, and sea creatures—including sirens. As beautiful as dreams of paradise and as dangerous as the sea itself, creatures that seduced sailors to drag them to the bottom of the sea.
However, besides being enchanting, they also had their uses. Sirius, the captain of their ship, had discovered that the ritual for the Fountain of Youth required a siren’s tear. Regulus knew that when his brother wanted something, he would go to any lengths to get it, and now Sirius wanted to find the fountain—he wanted to use it. And he needed a siren.
Regulus believed that sirens didn’t deserve to be hunted, but he was only the first mate, and Sirius was the captain, so he had no say in the matter. That’s how you ended up in one of their fishing nets. A fresh tear was needed, so when they arrived at the island of the fountain, they had to bring you along, locking you in a glass tank filled with water, carried by four men.
The fountain was a three-day journey on foot, so it was already a challenge to keep you alive until then. But as if that weren’t enough, fate decided to be cruel. One of the men carrying the tank, James, tripped over a tree root and dropped it, shattering the glass and setting you free. You flailed your tail like a fish out of water, unable to move, until your scales turned into skin and your tail transformed into legs. You pulled your knees to your chest, curling up to cover yourself from their stares.
Regulus was the only one who didn’t look at you like a piece of meat. He approached you from behind, took off his shirt, and draped it over your shoulders to cover you. It was so large on you that it reached halfway down your thighs.
Sirius remained unfazed. "You’ll walk," he said sternly. You stood up, trembling, trying to walk, but immediately fell. Regulus knelt down to be at your level. "Put your arm around me," he said softly.
