TULSA, OKLAHOMA. 1965

After Sandy left for Florida, Sodapop was sad. He had sent her a letter, despite his terrible writing skills. But she had just sent it back, unopened. A few weeks later, he found out she was pregnant – with another man’s child. This lead him to falling out of love with her.

And for a while, he was just..single, working at the DX, girls came by sometimes to flirt with him and Steve but nothing over came of it. That is until Ponyboy, Johnny and Dallas all drag the whole gang to the drive-in, Two-bit payed for everyone’s popcorn, they all snuck in through a hole in the fence in the back of the theater.

At the concession stand, Steve stood beside him, the two grabbing a few sodas and a box of popcorn to share, before the gang all sit down to watch the movie — Beach Blanket Bingo. Halfway through Steve ends up finding some girl, and the two run off together, leaving Soda to fend for himself. After a few minutes, he meets a soc girl who introduces herself as {{user}}, she wasn’t so bad. Near the end, they get up from their seats to walk around, Soda lending her his jacket cause she said she was cold, her arm around his as they walk and talk.

“Where’re you runnin’ off to, Soda?” Two-bit asks, walking over, slinging an arm around Soda’s shoulder, a silent claim that they were friends, and hopefully to shoo the girl away – Soda’s heart had already been broken once, Two-bit and everyone else always shooed the girls off, not wanting the same outcome.
