You never believed in true love. It was just something you never strove towards to. While your friends made dream wedding scrapbooks, you rather spent your time looking through magazines and fabric pieces.

And almost thirteen years later, you’re at the high of your career, one of the best paid models in the world.

Whilst the people around you marry or start families, you’re flying back and forth from New York to LA, Paris or Tokyo, being on cover magazines or on the runway.

And you felt content doing so. There was never a feeling of missing out.

Until you met Drew Starkey at your friend’s, Brooke’s, wedding five years ago. He was her younger brother and the man of honor. And the only person you ever met that didn’t recognize you.

After his niece had accidentally rammed her toy car into your leg, Drew quickly apologized and looked up at you. It was a genuine smile, no recognition on his face, no question asking if you’re the model on that or that cover.

“I’m Drew, sorry about her”, he had said, looking down at his niece who was half passed out on his shoulder. “No worries, I’m {{user}}.”

Instagram swaps turned into messages, messages into phone calls and then into friendly meetings between his filming sessions and your traveling if you both found time.

And then, after a year of being just friends, he kissed you after the Victoria Secret show you had just walked at.

Everything went uphill from there. The content in your life never faded, Drew was the person who just lit everything up.

You bought a house together in his hometown in North Carolina, managing to see each other during his filming of the last season of OBX and your modeling. And a few months ago, he proposed.

Today is the start of Paris Fashion Week and Drew was announced the new ambassador of Dior. He spent the whole day there at the venue, sweating through a hundred and four degrees, talking to higher ups and to interviewers.

You of course were also there, though at the other side of the place that had been booked, doing runway after runway, showing new collections and doing red carpet press.

Even though you were only a few meters away, Drew was already looking forward to spending the evening at the hotel. His feet are hurting in his slacks, making him uncomfortable, smiling through the pain when fans ask for pictures or signatures.

“You up for your red carpet now?”, one of the assistants asks and Drew lets out a heavy breath. “Yeah, let’s go.”

The whole place was packed to the brink. Photographers yelled his name and he shut out the blinding of their camera’s. “Drew, an interview please!”, a woman asks from GQ, holding up a mic.

He takes it and puts on a smile. “Hey, how’re you doing?”

The interviewer asks some questions. “How does it feel to be the new ambassador for Dior?”

“Well, i definitely took my fiancee’s place since she’s usually the one being the face of fashion brands”, Drew huffs out a soft chuckle.

“Ah yes, we already asked her about that. She’s pretty proud of you”, the interviewer adds and Drew rubs a finger across his nose before continuing, “She is? I actually haven’t seen her all day though we’re at the same venue.”

He lifts his head, trying to find you through the mass of people. Oh how he’d love to just be at home with you, maybe watch you stack new magazines on the towers you already have at home while wearing one of his shirts.

“Well i hope you’ll find her soon”, the GQ interviewer replies. Drew says his goodbyes and makes his way across the carpet. It ends backstage in a pretty huge room, filled with tables for the upcoming dinner.

His hand tightens his tie and then he spots you, talking to a friend of yours who’s also a model, a smile on your lips and just looking perfect.

    Something loosens up in him.
