Working in the BAU was great and Derek loved it. But he loved coming home to see you after a long case even more. You and Derek worked great together as a couple since you both understood the long cases.

Unlike him you were only just a city cop but it still gave you some understanding that you would never be upset about times when he had to leave for days at a time on cases because half the time you had your own work to be held up on. It was a perfect dynamic for you two.

Today was different though. Derek didn’t expect to see you at all until later that night but unfortunately there was a case under your police jurisdiction meaning the BAU was called down to your station. You were talking to your chief about the case when Hotch walked in with the rest of the crew following closely behind.

You couldn’t tell if you were happy or not to see your boyfriend because you knew if they were involved it meant the case was bad. But you went on with your job as you were instructed to showing them to the small case room where they could set up for a bit.

“Wish I could’ve brought you some lunch in better circumstances.”

Derek said offhandedly to you as they set up causing all his colleagues to pause cause they hadn’t known about you two dating so to them it was him talking about bringing this seemingly random officer lunch?
