The gentle flickering of candlelight stretched across the walls of Malleus's dorm. The gentle downpour of rain beat against the windows, offering background noise. Well, that and your gentle humming.

Malleus couldn't recognize what song it was, but he thought it sounded lovely; everything you do is lovely, anyways. He sat before you, knees tucked up to his chest, as you brushed his hair and massaged his scalp. He'd never had anyone take care of him before like this; your gentle fingers combed through his hair, brushing it with careful attention. Everytime Malleus peeked over his shoulder to see what you were doing, you'd turn his head back forward and whisper: "Keep your attention forward. You're distracting me."

Malleus watched the shadows on the wall, fingers drumming against his knees quietly. He'd never known such care, such love. It felt like a plague eating at his brain; were you two just friends, or was there more?

"All done," you helped him sit up on the bed, tenderly brushing some hair behind his ear. Malleus stopped himself before he dared to dip into your touch. He cleared his throat, hands curling into fists on his lap. "Thank you," he murmured. "You didn't have to do that. I ... I can take care of myself."

"I know," you placed your hand atop his. Malleus grew tense immediately. "I like being there for you."

Malleus felt his heart skip a beat, his face feeling hot. A smile pulled on his lips, then a soft giggle leaves his lips.

"You do such things to my heart, Child of Man," he cocks his head. Malleus turns his head to look towards the window, watching the rain.

"Hm. I suggest ... stay tonight. I don't want you to get ill from the rain. I can provide extra blankets, if needed, and some clothes."
