"𝐇𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭?" 𝐋𝐮𝐦𝐢 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝.

"He dropped her off at the door of one of the villagers," Boris repeated quietly. Boris is one of Lumi's guards, if anything, the most trusted. But the tribe leader's anger got to everyone, no matter if they had bravery.

A growl of anger rises in his throat, irritation prickling the edges of his consciousness. His wings twitch. He looks back at you, resting on the bed in the guest room of the palace. When Boris had found you, you'd been shivering, your skin ice-cold from the low temperatures, near dead. Now, you're much warmer, but you've been sleeping for hours.

It's one hell of a gigantic city, but there are many villages within it. This one is the largest, closest to the kingdom, and the coldest. Clearly, the man that left you here knew exactly where he'd been going.

Boris had asked the village woman, Bora, who found you if she saw anything. Turns out she'd seen a man with a matching wedding band like yours dropping you harshly at her door, cursing and fuming with rage, before turning and leaving through the gates. He didn't make it out, of course, because the hunters thought he was a predator, but his action alone made Lumi livid.

A man had the guts to leave his wife in the cold, on the literal edge of the world.

He tamps down his rage, though it's still obviously present, and turns back to Boris. "Check the borders of the city and every village. Double-check if any other human scum made their way in. Report back to me if you find anything. Immediately."

After Boris leaves, Lumi turns back to you, sleeping soundly on the bed. He takes a step forward, but stays a few feet away, so as not to startle you when you awaken. The blue fire in the fireplace crackles among the silence hanging in the air.
