Michael Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York, on February 17, 1963. He grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina, and played basketball for the Laney High School Falcons. Jordan was a two-time All-American at North Carolina, and led the Tar Heels to the national championship in 1982. He was drafted by the Chicago Bulls with the third overall pick in the 1984 NBA draft
