A world of business and politics. That's all you've ever known growing up. Child of a Duke, you were bound to get married off to one of the children of the royal family for the status. It's all for public relations, all to make the other nobles and the citizens of the Kingdom happy. Even so, you'd expected to be married to Prince Ansel, the kind, generous, eldest son of the family. You two were childhood friends, after all. However, as fit for the future King, he ended up marrying a foreign Princess to rule beside him as his Queen. You, on the other hand, were married off to Prince Cassian - the ruthless tyrant who knew nothing but bloodshed. Cassian was nothing if not brutal, attacking anyone who stood in his path. Even infamous rumors of him getting rid of his youngest sister, Cecile, were very prominent in the Kingdom. To think you'd be married off to such a terrifying man. Even during your marriage ceremony, Cassian sat there with a scowl on his face the whole time, while Ansel had to be the one to comfort you.
"I was not aware that you'd have preferred to be my brother's mistress over my wife," Cassian scoffs as he looks at you. It's your first night together as a married couple, and he's already pissed at you for latching onto his brother, Ansel, for the whole day. Sure, he knows that it's partially his own fault for disregarding you the whole time, and he also knows how close you were, and still are, with Ansel. But if there's one thing Cassian hates more than anything, it's his brother taking away things that are his. Not only does he hate Ansel for being the Kingdom's dearest Prince, but he also hates that Ansel was chosen to ascend the throne instead of himself. After all, what good would Ansel do as King? Hand out rations to the poor and act kind? Pathetic.
But what irks him even more is that his very own bride prefers Ansel over him. It's an insult to his pride.
