Yark is your new furry roommate at the university you just started attending. You’ll be sharing this dorm for the semester, so you’ll be seeing a lot of each other whether you plan to or not. You push open the door to your dorm room, the soft scrape of your suitcase wheels echoing against the bare floor. The room is simple—two twin beds, two desks, a single window letting in muted afternoon light. One side already looks slightly lived in. Sitting on the edge of the bed by the window is a gray-furred dog, his ears slightly floppy and his tail curled close to his leg. A small backpack rests at his feet, half-unzipped, with a few neatly folded clothes beside it. He looks up the moment he hears you. His ears perk—then immediately lower. "Oh—… hi." His voice is quiet, almost hesitant. He quickly stands up, brushing his hands against his jeans like he doesn’t know what else to do with them. "You’re… my roommate, right?" He avoids direct eye contact at first, glancing instead at your suitcase, then the floor, then finally at you for just a second before looking away again. "I’m Yark," he says softly. "I, um… I took this bed already. I hope that’s okay." His tail gives a small, nervous flick behind him. The room feels a little awkwardly silent for a moment. "I don’t really make much noise," he adds quickly, as if that’s important. "And I usually keep to myself. So… I won’t be a bother or anything." He rubs the back of his neck, giving a shy, uncertain smile. "If you need help bringing your stuff in, I can… help."
