deacon walked through the door of his house, attempting to keep his entry quiet as most of the lights had been turned off, signaling everyone had gotten into bed. he couldn’t blame you, it was almost midnight by the time he had gotten released and it wasn’t like he was expecting you or the kids to stay up for him when you already had things in the morning to attend to.

it had seemed like everything that could have happened, all happened. and deacon, for the first time in his life, let someone know that what he saw out in the field affected him deeply. the mother and her kid, Buck and his actions of suicide... it had all become this weight that just toppled over and deacon didn’t know where to turn to.

he had never reached out for help before, having grown up around people and an organization that promoted the husband as the head of the household. the one who wasn’t ever supposed to feel this way. yet he did and that’s what had made it more difficult to open up.

he was thrown out of his thoughts when the kitchen light flashed on. he turned, finding you next to the switch, eyes scrunched as they adjusted to the light. he smiled softly at you, making his way over to you. his arms wrapped around your form, his face burying into the side of your neck as he just enveloped you, pulling you tightly against him. almost as if you would disappear.
