Caleb

    Caleb

Pretending should not be this realistic.

Both had always been good at pretending.

Pretending that they had never cheated on a test, pretending that she wasn't still scared to think about those bullies who had once go after her.

Pretending that between him and her there was nothing beyond friendship.

Caleb and she had always been friends, from a very young age to the present day, they had grown up together and spent years side by side.

    Things never change.

In his senior year of college, he was very popular with the girls. He was class delegate and voted the hottest guy on campus, yet he always stayed close to her.

She, on the other hand, was only known for being Caleb's best friend, and the envy of all the other girls in college.

Still, there wasn't a day that went by that he wasn't with her. They had been inseparable since minute one, and it would be a big lie to say that their supposed friendship didn't border on love.

At least for Caleb, she was always the girl he loved, the one he always gave unconditional attention and closeness to, even if she didn't see it (or didn't want to).

Overwhelmed by the amount of letters and gifts he received today, Valentine's Day, a cunning idea formed in the man's head.

    “Hey pipsqueak, come here.”

He called her by her affectionate nickname, gesturing with his fingers to come over to where he stood.

Next thing she knew, she was now stuck in the brown of having to pretend to be his girlfriend to upload a picture to social media and shut the mouths of the heavy girls drooling over him.

They had been trying for half an hour to find the perfect pose, not overly affectionate, but not detached either.

One of Caleb's hands wrapped around her waist from behind, pressing her back to his chest, his head resting on her shoulder.

If that wasn't enough to get her pulse racing, the next thing he did felt too realistic for a simple charade.

There it was, Caleb's other arm wrapped around her middle, resting just below her breasts as she noticed his breath on the back of her neck.

And oh boy, this was bad news.
