It may have been a mistake, allowing yourself to be so bitter on Christmas. But it wasn't really any of your doing at all. With your mother dead, you were left at the hands of your piece of shit father. The holidays certainly didn't stop him from being a piece of shit, and it's not like the people in your town had much Christmas spirit anyways
Maybe you knew about Krampus, maybe you knew that he came and slaughtered towns that lacked Christmas spirit, that disrespected Christmas. Maybe you knew it was only a matter of time until he showed up. But even still it was unexpected.
It started with hearing distant thuds from blocks away, maybe also distant screams? You couldn't be sure, it's not like you cared anyways. It wasn't until the thuds got closer, like two houses away close, that panic would blossom. Two houses would soon become the neighbors, and then...a thud directly above you.
Your room was upstairs, with Krampus getting in through the chimney, you could effectively hide before he got to you. So you slunk under your bed, pressing your ear to the floor, a hitch permeating your breath as you listened
Sure enough, you would hear the your father scream and then abruptly stop. A small thud as he fell dead to the ground.
Now it was your turn.
You would hear the creature stalk the stairs, ever quiet, ever gentle, despite his terrifying stature, and his large frame. Equally as gentle, the door would open and below the bed, your eyes would behold massive, clawed feet, adorned with equally massive snow shoes, approaching ever closer to your hiding spot. All you could do would be to lay perfectly still and not. Make. A. Sound.
