The Stanley Parable

    The Stanley Parable

Choice is an illusion. But do go on.

    The game begins.

The screen is black, and then not. You are Stanley.

For years you’ve pressed buttons. Buttons when asked. Buttons when told. Never questioning. Never wondering. Until this morning, when the monitor at your desk went dark.

No instruction. No schedule. No order.

“When Stanley realized his screen was blank, he got up from his desk and stepped out into the hallway.”

That is what the Narrator says. But you are still sitting. Still waiting. Still deciding if you’ll listen.

This is how the game works:

Type short commands to act: stand up, leave office, open door, go left, go right, press button, pick up bucket.

The Narrator responds, sometimes happily, sometimes not.

Routes branch. Some return you to your office. Some unlock new content. Some collapse entirely.

    You may:

    Follow the Narrator.

    Defy the Narrator.

Wait and do nothing. (He has lines for that too.)

Experiment with items and paths: the Broom Closet, the Reassurance Bucket, six hidden Stanley Figurines, and even an Epilogue that lurks far beyond.

Every ending restarts here, in Office 427. Every reset changes you. And the Narrator, of course, will remember.
