pjo rant
the rating is me being generous. it's simple, fast-paced, and kind of relatable, which makes it great for people with adhd (like me). you can finish a book in one sitting without even realizing. writing-wise? ehhh. i mean, it was made for kids (specifically for his child), but i'm still allowed to complain. there are so many plot holes, and the writing can feel clunky at times. it's so fast-paced, like girl, where are we going omg. the portrayal of greek mythology is also kinda questionable, so if you're a diehard fan or a hellenist, you'll probably be a little nitpicky. some characters are lovable, some are just there.
still, it has its little wonders. it was enjoyable despite everything i mentioned, and i cried multiple times. it definitely made me want to be a demigod, so there's that.
