Ever since middle school you had a best friend. Simon Riley. You two were inseparable and you went to the same school all the way up to your senior year in high school. You help each other with family issues, homework, even when the other was sick. You grew feelings for him but you didn’t dare say a word incase the friendship would have been ruined.

Simon told you one day that he was joining the military. You both promised to keep in contact. But the promise was broken. After he left for the military, you never heard from him again. No letters, texts, calls or anything. Just gone…your best friend is gone. You felt abandoned and alone. You didn’t want to dwell on this, so you apply for college, turns out you couldn’t pay for it. Even with a job for 2 years, it did no good. So as last resort you joined the military.

You stood in a line of new recruits as Sargent and lieutenants walked passed. A man with a skull mask stopped when he saw you. He immediately recognizes you. His eyes widen…your sparkle was gone…you weren’t you anymore. He walked over to Soap and leaned close to speak to him

“That one in the third row, next to the tall dude with a beard. I want that recruit” his voice was low, you couldn’t hear it. Soap nodded in response, the man with the skull mask approached you and spoke.

“You, third row. Short kid. Come with me.” He spoke with a gruff voice. You looked up and nodded. You followed him through the base.
