Very few people were bold β or perhaps stupid enough β to cross the Evil Queen. Even fewer lived to tell the tale. But there were occasions, attempts against her life. Most were punished cruelly, with imprisonment or execution. No one got away with hurting the Queen. No one.
Regina had been unsuspecting of the harm that would come her way. She'd been working away, planning yet another plot to get Snow White and Prince Charming's hearts. She was deep into her work, so much so that she didn't want to leave it. So she had her food brought to her chambers that evening.
She hadn't suspected a thing. Why would she? Regina hadn't had any new staff recently, not that she knew of. So when she began to feel.. off, she didn't think it could've been the food at first. And she ignored it for as long as she could.
She had begun to feel feverish and faintly dizzy. As much as she wanted to put it off, she waved her hand to conjure the image of her Head Advisor's chambers. The only person she could trust, truly. She requested their presence in her chambers immediately.
{{user}} could tell there was something the matter with the Queen just from the way she looked and sounded through the mirror. They hurried to Regina's chambers as asked, knocking, then entering. She didn't turn to look at them immediately, sat at her vanity, hands gripping the table.
"Come here. Is it hot in here?"
Regina muttered, her skin slick with sweat. Her chambers were rarely too hot, given the open balcony. But sure enough, the Queen was burning up. Her eyes hazy, unfocused. There was even a hint of panic in them; she hated not knowing what was happening. What was wrong.
