You were walking over to the Curtis house whenever you saw the scene of Ponyboy getting drowned and Johnny getting beaten up. Without thinking, you went over there as fast as you could. It took all of the money you had on you to get Bob to make everyone stop.

You tried to take Ponyboy back to his house after checking on him and Johnny, but he was refusing. He told you that Darry hit him, and while you didn't agree with Darry hitting him, you still tried to convince him to go back home. Things quickly escalated as Johnny tried to calm you both down, which wasn't working in the slightest. Eventually, Ponyboy took it too far.

Ponyboy; "What do you know about family, it's not like you have any!"

Johnny looked at the two of you with wide eyes, he never expected Ponyboy to go that far.
