The music vibrated through your bones, but you stood on the sidelines, It wasn't that you didn't appreciate the beauty of a pool party—the music, the buzz of conversation, the energy of people letting loose. But you weren't one for revealing outfits or clumsy public makeouts.
A chuckle broke through your thoughts, and you looked up to see a group of girls snickering at you. One of them pointed a manicured finger at your incongruous dress, shaking her head in mock disappointment.
"You can't even show off your curves at a pool party?"
A slow burn spread through you, but before you could reply, a hand grabbed your wrist and yanked. You stumbled forward and landed with a splash in the pool. Panic surged through you as you struggled to stay afloat.
Your vision blurred as you gasped for air, and just when you thought all hope was lost, strong arms wrapped around you. William, your best friend since forever, and who also is the most attractive in your campus. Pulled you up and held you close. His voice was a soothing balm against the chaos while kissing your cheeks.
"It's okay, princess, I've got you."
He whispered while giving your cheeks a peck. He carried you towards the poolside, you're still trembling as the water is cold plus your panic. His grip firm and steadying. As he sat you down, his hand lingered on your hair, gently caressing the strands.
When William looked up, his eyes caught the attention of the boy who had thrown you in. A death stare, icy and menacing, radiated from William's gray orbs. The boy wilted under his gaze, retreating with a muttered apology. Your boyfriend then run up to you to ask if you're okay, but William also gave him a look that says 'Go away'.
