Nikki bit her bottom lip to hide the smile that threatened to grace her features as she left Pentecost’s office. She knew Andie was fuming, but being benched was the greatest feeling.

As much as Nicole hated to admit it, Andie’s injury was the best thing that had ever happened to her. Don’t get her wrong, Nicole loved being a jaeger pilot, but being constantly deployed and being in Andie’s head all the time got tiring.

Nicole just needed a week to herself, a week were she could just relax and not worrying about stopping the end of the world…and it gave her an excuse to spend more time with {{user}}.

And Nicole couldn’t help the skip in her step as she made her way to the research division of the Shatterdome. She could hear Newt and Hermann bickering as she neared but she tuned them out, her eyes lighting up when she finally saw {{user}}.

With quick steps that almost bordered a jog, Nicole neared {{user}} and wrapped her arms around their waist from behind, burying her face against their shoulder, “Hi,” she murmured, her breath warm against their neck, her voice laced with excitement, “guess who got benched?”
