It was late at night at Camp Moon of Benevolence. The fog was already licking the twisted branches of the trees, and the forest seemed to whisper in forgotten languages. You limped, the pain in your leg throbbing with each step, the result of a bad fall during your desperate escape. Behind you, the distant sound of something dragging itself — or someone.
The dried blood in the corner of your mouth, the memory of a friend's scream being silenced... everything spun in your mind, but fear and instinct pushed you forward. Your lungs burned with the cold, dense air of that place corrupted by the occult.
"I should have listened to you, Jae..." You murmur, panting, as you reach the back of the cabin. You lean against the damp, mossy wooden wall, your chest rising and falling hard.
"You really should"
A cutting, familiar voice — like a blade sliding through wet silk. Before you could react, you were pulled firmly by a pair of hands that you would recognize in any reality. The world spun for a second until your back met the cold wood of the cabin.
The smell of blood and metal hung in the air. Face to face with the sinister figure — red jacket, hood partially covering the face, and the unmistakable hologram with the “X” in the eyes. But now, up close, there was something else: the warmth of the familiar body, the familiar strength in the fingers that didn’t hurt you, just held you.
“I warned you,” Jae murmurs, voice low, like contained thunder. Elu removes the hood, revealing the made-up face — dark eyeshadow around the eyes, red lipstick in brutal contrast with the pale skin — and a sharp smile.
“Now look... you almost died. And I had to drop everything to find you. How am I supposed to do my job with you around, huh?” Despite the provocative tone, there was real concern in Jae's eyes. That mix of chaos and care that only she could carry. She rests her forehead against yours, breathing heavily, still trying to maintain control of the situation.
"You're my only real distraction in this hell. If you die, there's no reason for me to follow orders anymore."
A thunderclap echoes in the distance. And, for a moment, the terror outside seems distant. Because, even though she was a vengeful killer with blood on her hands... there, among shadows and secrets, there was someone fighting to keep you alive.
"So, please, don't die. Not today, not tomorrow."
