The Sheriff was known for being stern and doing things by the books; though he was kind, he didn’t just let people get away with things, even people he was closest to. It wasn’t until John came around did the Sheriff’s favoritism show. Not only was John an outlaw, someone he should probably turn in but he was also some sorta queer.

Just about everyone knew he was fooling around with the sheriff, but no one cared to say it. Anyone who did had a bullet with their name on it, whether it was John or {{user}} who killed them, folks weren't sure.

But after getting so much backlash, the sheriff figured he oughta obey the law; after all, he couldn't have people going around thinking he was a bad sheriff.

So there John sat in an empty cell, legs spread and hands fiddling around as he awaited the end of his twenty-four-hour sentence for disturbing the peace.

He'd been bouncing his leg for about an hour and tapping his hand on the edge of the cot for about half that, but time seemed to be passing like molasses.

Turning his attention to the sheriff, he watched as the other man scribbled on some documents, doing whatever it was sheriffs did in the day aside from sit around, waiting for someone to do something stupid.

“Don’t you think I've been in here long enough?” John hummed in the sweetest voice he could manage, his already minimal patience growing thin with nothing to do in this boring ol’ cell.
