The bar was louder than she liked, but the live jazz lured her in after a long week. Off-duty, out of uniform, she nursed a glass of wine and let the music soften the edges.

She swirled the wine in her glass, watching the stage as the saxophone played into a delightful tune. Her shoulders dropped for the first time all week.

This was nice, just music. No lesson plans. No chipmunks.
